Sheldon Nadelman at the Engine Room in Hewhall Square

We were knocking about the Jewellery Quarter on Friday and had a chat with Morgan Quaintance, guest curator for this month’s TROVE show in Newhall Square. There was also some jazz courtesy of the Baghdaddies and Birmingham Jazz festival. He was busy so it was a bit dark by the time we got to him, but you can still see him ok:

TBB#3 Sneak Preview

“There was this real sense in the air that changing the system from within – which was such a popular notion in the late ’60s – was not going to work, that the revolution had failed, and that you either had to start blowing up buildings or getting the hell out… I saw this Heart of Darkness, Captain Kurtz, Lord of the Flies vibe…”

–       Don Was, talking about the Recording of the Stones ‘Exile on Main Street’, Stones in Exile (2010)

TBB #3 – Revolution

TBB #3 is on its way… The theme is revolution, and already we’ve got a great mix of articles: the suggestion that the cultural revolution in the 60s was a failure; a profile of the excellent Punch and their exhibition of protest posters at the Custard Factory, Birmingham; how social media is revolutionizing the situation in the Middle East; and some excellent original artwork from Manchester cartoonist Anthony Bruchez.
